Messina Reiterations

Repeated Repetitions

Messina Reiterations explores what it means to reiterate a city photographically. Reiteration is more than repetition: it is a repetition of repetition, a return to a process already underway. In every reiterative process, an epistemic surplus emerges. The form may remain the same, yet each new instantiation produces a difference and reveals something that could not appear before. Messina, the city in which I now live, becomes the field of this experiment: routes, subjects, and scenes return across months and years, gradually exposing a layered reality that no single photographic instant can fix. The project remains necessarily open, suspended between a city that never ceases to transform and a photographic apparatus that immobilises time.
